A borough in ten dates

Alpine, in Dates follows a Bergen County borough on the Palisades: a Hudson River landing, a stone house by the shore and a Revolutionary War crossing, the campaign that saved the cliffs, incorporation as a borough, a monument, a bridge, an inventor’s radio tower, a parkway and a golf club. Each date below gives the line as it is spoken in the film, followed by a short note drawn from the sources listed at the end of this page.

One of the film’s on-screen dates, 1685, follows the Borough of Alpine’s own history page; the note for that chapter says what the other records show.

The scenes are an AI historical dramatization: generated imagery that suggests each period, not archival photographs or footage. The narrator’s voice is AI-generated. The dates, names and notes below come from the published records listed under Sources.

    A River Beginning

“Beneath the Palisades, farmers shipped their harvest from a dock to New York.”

Closter Landing, today’s Alpine Landing, was a busy boat and ferry landing in the eighteenth century, and farm produce went from these landings to New York by sailboat. The year 1685 comes from the Borough of Alpine’s history page; no independent record of it was found. (County of Bergen; Northern Valley Press; Borough of Alpine)

“Along that shore, a stone house rose. Nearby, British troops later climbed the cliffs.”

The stone south half of the Blackledge-Kearney House at Alpine Landing dates to before 1802, according to the park commission. The film’s c. 1750 is the survey estimate in the house’s National Register nomination, which notes that deed records reach back only to about 1800; the borough’s history page gives 1761. On November 20, 1776, British troops landed about a mile and a half downriver, at what is now Huyler’s Landing, and climbed the Palisades. About this film

Alpine, in Dates was made by B&Co. Realty in October 2026. Its dates were checked against the sources above on October 18, 2026. That check moved the second chapter’s on-screen date to c. 1750 before the film was published, and the notes record where the first on-screen date, 1685, rests only on the borough’s history page. The scenes were generated with AI image and video tools; they are illustrations of each period, not likenesses of real people or exact records of particular buildings, and where a scene and a record differ, the record is the authority. Some details are not period-accurate; the 1938 tower, for example, carries present-day antenna dishes. Narration: an AI-generated voice. Music: Apple Loops, Apple’s royalty-free loop library. The closing card is the B&Co. Realty brand card.
